The 28th  Annual Regional High School Exhibition is current on display in FMCC’s Perrella Gallery now through April 13th. This exhibition has become an annual tradition to highlight the artistic achievements of young artists throughout the region in grades 9-12.

This year’s exhibit included 70 student works selected submitted from 12 school districts within a 50-mile radius of the college.

This year’s Juror was Abraham Ferraro, an artist and Shop Supervisor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences in Rensselaer NY. Mr. Ferraro chose from a wide variety of mediums from the pieces submitted including drawings, collage, painting, sculpture, photography, as well as video and digital images.

Five Juror’s Choice Awards of $100.00 each will be presented to the following young artists:

  • Madison Teriele’s “The Modern Antique” a hand built Earthenware piece from Mohanosen High school;
  • Alexa Walker from Cobleskill High school, for her Digital work “All’s fair in Love and War;”
  • Shermeta Tess’s Ball point pen drawing, “Self Control’ from Niskayuna High school;
  • Laundry Day”  a colored pencil drawing created by Lee Lucy from Shaker High School;
  • And Sara Sadaat from Guilderland High School for her watercolor and ink painting “Sonder.

An artist reception and awards ceremony is planned for Wednesday April 13th from 7-8:30 pm, in the Perrella Gallery. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served.

The show will be displayed from April 1st to April 13th

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; with extended hours on Wednesday evenings until 9:00 p.m. or by appointment.  The gallery is closed weekends and holidays.  For further details, contact Anthony DiMezza at (518) 736-3622, ext.8977.
